There are many reasons behind this as the b arch course has a course duration of 5 years and this course needs infrastructure and labs for designing, also in this course faculty and experience of faculty plays an important role, all of these reasons make it tough for a college to initiate this course.

For students who are willing to do this course, the biggest catch is that this course can be done as a regular course only. It cannot be done by distance learning as per the norms of the council of architecture. There are several other things and to know them lets us dive deep.

Eligibility Criteria

To get admission in a b arch course in any college of India one must have completed 10+2 in PCM with a minimum of 50% marks from any recognized board and students from the reserved category should have at least 45% in their 10+2.

It is the basic eligibility criteria of getting admission in any college of b arch college but the eligibility criteria for colleges change as there are many colleges and different colleges follow the different way to take admission.

Those students who have chosen diplomas in place of 10+2 can also apply for this course and in that case, the student must have mathematics as a subject in diploma and the student must have at least 50% in diploma.

Admission Process

The admission process may differ for different colleges as it depends very much on the colleges and the type of colleges in which you are willing to take admission. The process for taking admission in the IITs for b arch course is different as to get admission in these colleges first you have to clear JEE Mains and JEE Advanced and then you have clear AAT whereas to get admission in renowned colleges other than IITs you have to clear NATA both of these exams are discussed below in detail.

1.AAT

AAT is commonly known as Architecture Aptitude Test and students use it to get admission in b arch course in IITs by giving this exam. If one wants to appear for this exam then the first one has to qualify for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams only then one will get a chance to appear for this exam. There are only two IITs that offer b arch course these IITs are IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur.

 

2. NATA

The full form of NATA is the National Aptitude Test in Architecture. The scorecard of this exam is used to get admission in top colleges of the architecture of India other than IITs as there are many colleges that accept scorecards of this exam for admission.

Both of these exams are the topmost and very prestigious exams for b arch course but these exams are not only exams as there are many other exams which can also provide you the opportunity to get into a good college such as WBJEE for Jadavpur University and other state-level entrance exams for the admission in b arch courses.
